INTERDISCIPLINARITY IN TRANSLATION/INTERPRETING STUDIES: EVOLUTION AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Abstract

Although interdisciplinarity, and increasingly multidisciplinarity, are buzzwords in translation studies research, we would do well to remember that they are not new varieties. They have a long history that stretches back into the mists of TS time. My own first-hand memory of translation studies dates back to the early 1990s, when the world was a very different place. I shall endeavour to chart the evolution of interdisciplinary approaches from my own personal experience and will discuss how far and to what purpose the climate has changed in the intervening quarter-century.
